Chipper Jones was born on April 24, 1972, in DeLand, Florida. He played high school baseball at Bolles High School then bypassed college to go straight to playing professionally. Chipper was drafted first overall by the Atlanta Braves in 1990. After spending three years in the minor leagues, Chipper made his first major league appearance in 1993, playing in a total of eight games that year and collecting two hits in three at bats.
